Josh Allen needs just one touchdown to break the Buffalo Bills’ franchise record for most touchdowns from scrimmage. He currently shares the mark of 87 with Andre Reed and Thurman Thomas.
Allen reached 87 touchdowns after scoring twice on the ground in the Bills’ 24-16 win over the Los Angeles Chargers. He ran in a 1-yard touchdown before halftime, then added another 1-yard rushing score in the fourth quarter to put Buffalo ahead for the first time in the game. That second touchdown tied him with Reed and Thomas.
Reed scored his 87 touchdowns over 15 seasons with the Bills, mostly as a wide receiver. His breakdown was 86 receiving touchdowns and one rushing score. Thomas, a running back, had 65 rushing touchdowns and 22 receiving touchdowns in 12 seasons.
Allen is in his ninth season with Buffalo. His 87 touchdowns include 85 rushing and two receiving. The 225 touchdown passes he has thrown don’t count toward this record because it only includes touchdowns scored by the player on an offensive play.
Before the 2026 season, Allen had 79 rushing touchdowns in eight years, averaging nearly 10 per season. He has already added six more rushing touchdowns in the first three games of 2026. This start made him the first quarterback in NFL history to begin a season with three straight games of multiple rushing touchdowns. Only Jim Brown, Stephen Davis, and Priest Holmes had achieved three consecutive games with multiple rushing scores at any point in a season before.
Allen also holds the NFL record for career rushing touchdowns by a quarterback. His 85 rushing touchdowns tie him with former Bills running back Marshawn Lynch for 17th on the NFL’s all-time rushing touchdown list among all players. Another rushing touchdown would move Allen past Lynch and tie him with Priest Holmes at 16th all-time.
The Bills will face the New England Patriots this Sunday, where Allen could become the franchise’s outright leader in touchdowns from scrimmage. The record currently shared by two Hall of Famers and a franchise legend places Allen among the top scorers in Bills history well before the halfway point of his career.
