Aidan McCown threw two touchdown passes and ran for another as Lamar handed Northwestern State a 42-14 defeat on Saturday night, extending the Demons’ losing streak to 17 games.
McCown connected with LaDamion McDowell on a 37-yard touchdown pass late in the first quarter to give Lamar the lead for good. The Demons, ranked No. 14 in the Stats Perform poll, also received scoring contributions from Jojo Uga, who opened the game with a 45-yard touchdown run, Parker Jenkins with a 39-yard rushing touchdown, and Cam Patterson’s 8-yard touchdown run early in the second half.
Northwestern State, winless at 0-6 overall and 0-3 in the Southland Conference, has not won since the opening game of the 2025 season when they beat Alcorn State 20-10, a victory that ended a 20-game losing streak. The Demons’ current skid is now the longest active losing run in Division I football.
Zach Wilcke threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to Brendan Webb in the first quarter, while Zay Davis capped the scoring with a 24-yard touchdown run midway through the fourth quarter, breaking free after taking a pitch to the right and turning it back to the middle untouched.
Despite the scoreline, Lamar struggled on third downs, converting just 2 of 17 attempts, including 0 for 10 in the first half. That inefficiency did little to slow their scoring, as the Demons took control early.
Lamar improved to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play after a 38-7 loss to Louisiana-Lafayette on September 5. The three-game winning streak that followed included this decisive victory over Northwestern State.
Northwestern State will look to end their losing run when they host McNeese State next Saturday. Meanwhile, Lamar prepares to host Incarnate Word in their upcoming fixture.
