Tailgating tickets near Reliant Stadium jump to $173 for Texans-Cowboys game in Houston

Tailgating tickets outside Reliant Stadium for the Texans’ upcoming game against the Dallas Cowboys are selling for $173, nearly four times more than the next home game and six times the price of later matchups. The elevated cost has sparked frustration among Texans fans ahead of the Sunday clash.

As of Saturday afternoon, tickets granting access to the tailgating areas around the stadium were listed at $173 on the Texans’ official marketplace. By comparison, tickets for the October 25 game against the New York Giants were priced at $46, while the November 19 matchup with the Indianapolis Colts offered tailgating passes for $29.

The Texans have yet to comment on the surge in tailgating prices. Fans have voiced their dissatisfaction on social media, questioning the steep increase for what is essentially access to the outdoor pregame party area, not the game itself.

The Texans have started the season with three consecutive losses, despite preseason expectations that included hopes of a Super Bowl run. Sunday's game against the Cowboys has attracted high demand, pushing ticket prices well beyond typical levels.

Game tickets on the official marketplace started at $293 for the Cowboys matchup, with many resale tickets priced even higher. After this game, Texans tickets for the rest of the season are selling under $100.

The team does not use dynamic pricing, which adjusts ticket costs in real-time based on demand. According to the Associated Press, the high prices for the Cowboys game were anticipated by ticket resellers.

Houston Ticket Brokers, a resale marketplace, identified the Cowboys game as the highest resale value home game on the Texans’ 2026 schedule before the season began. They attributed the premium to the rivalry between the two Texas teams and the willingness of fans to travel to Houston.

Tailgating tickets provide access to the designated pregame areas but do not include entry to the game or parking spots. Separate parking passes are required to bring vehicles into the lots and set up personal tailgates.

Only a few NFL teams offer similar tailgating packages, making the $173 price tag unusual. Fans hoping to enjoy the full tailgating experience, including parking and game attendance, need to purchase additional passes.

The Texans’ official marketplace remains the primary source for these tickets, and pricing for tailgating on Sunday remains significantly above usual levels. Fans will be watching closely to see if demand keeps prices elevated or if they drop closer to the usual range for future games.
