Sven Ulreich, Tom Bischof, and Arijon Ibrahimović were among the six first-teamers who took part in FC Bayern Munich's first training session of the season on July 16, 2026.
More than 35 youth players from the U23s and U19s also participated in the session, which was a sort of 'talent scouting event.' These young players included the likes of Maycon Cardozo, Wisdom Mike, Guido Della Rovere, Felipe Chávez, and Filip Pavic. U19 coach Leonhard Haas and Bayern II coach Dante were also in attendance.
The training session took place at Säbener Straße, with Bayern's sporting directors keeping a close eye on proceedings. Max Eberl, Christoph Freund, and Eberl's assistant Bastian Wernscheid were all present, as were campus manager Michael Wiesinger and Bernhard Seonbuchner, the new head of transition with game and coach development at the campus.
Returning loanees João Palhinha, Sacha Boey, and Armindo Sieb were also in attendance, with Palhinha reportedly engaged in the training session and not slacking off, despite having no future with the club. The 25-year-old is set to leave FC Bayern, with Bild suggesting he has no future under manager Manuel Kompany.
Bryan Zaragoza, however, was not on the pitch due to a knee inflammation that has plagued him in recent weeks. His absence will be a concern for Kompany, who will be looking to get Zaragoza back to full fitness ahead of the new season.
The first training session of the season marked a key moment in the preparation for the new season, with the club's sporting directors keeping a close eye on proceedings. It will be interesting to see how the squad develops over the coming weeks and whether Kompany can guide the team to another successful season.
The next few weeks will be crucial in determining the shape of the squad ahead of the new season, with the club's sporting directors likely to make some key decisions on the future of certain players. Palhinha's departure is already confirmed, but other players may be on the way out as well.
