Manchester United’s Bryan Mbeumo maintained a perfect record with long balls during Cameroon’s 1-1 draw against Congo Republic in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier. The attacker completed 100 percent of his long ball attempts while creating three key passes and delivering four successful crosses out of six attempts.
Mbeumo played the entire match as Cameroon struggled to break down Congo’s defence, managing two shots on goal, one of which was blocked. He completed 82 percent of his overall passes but was less effective defensively, failing to make a tackle and losing both ground duels he contested.
The draw followed Cameroon’s 3-1 victory over Comoros in their previous qualifier, where Mbeumo scored. His latest performance showed his continued involvement in the team’s attacking play, despite not adding to his goal tally.
Elsewhere in international action, Manchester United midfielder Andrey Santos featured for Brazil in a 4-2 friendly win over Australia. Santos came off the bench for the final 29 minutes, completing 76 percent of his passes without attempting any shots or creating key passes. His defensive contributions included winning a tackle, four ground duels, and every aerial duel he contested.
Meanwhile, Jacob Devaney played the full 90 minutes for Ireland’s Under-21 side as they edged Kazakhstan 4-3. Devaney completed 74 percent of his passes and had a shot blocked. Defensively, he won all four tackles he attempted and came out on top in eight duels during the match.
Cameroon’s AFCON qualifying campaign continues with this draw leaving them needing to secure better results to guarantee progression. Mbeumo remains a central figure in their attack, as his passing accuracy and crossing ability stood out despite the stalemate.
